PLOT
Kumiko Oumae intends to put her past behind her now that she is a student at Kitauji High School. She wants a new beginning, but her new friends, Sapphire Kawashima and Hazuki Katou, draw her back into the school band club where she is once again forced to play the euphonium. As it is, the band won't be able to take part in Sunfest locally, let alone compete on a national level. Noboru Taki, the band's new advisor, offers them the choice between unwinding and having fun or working hard to qualify for nationals. Kumiko is unsure about whether they should strive for nationals because she doesn't want to make the same mistakes she did in middle school. In the midst of the commotion, she finds out that Reina Kousaka, an ex-bandmate with whom she had a tense relationship, has joined Kitauji's band club. Kumiko and her bandmates must figure out how to get through their obstacles and achieve success together under the strain of Noboru's demanding training.
