PLOT
Ritsu Onodera, a haughty literary editor, is driven to succeed in the field after having to cope with resentment from his coworkers for working under his father's name. He transfers to Marukawa Publishing from his father's publishing company in order to do this. Ritsu, however, discovers himself working as the inexperienced manga editor for the Emerald editing section, a group that adheres to highly strict deadlines, rather than being assigned to their literary division. There, Ritsu meets Masamune Takano, the infamous editor-in-chief, who is known for his tenacity and drive for success. Takano is actually Ritsu's high school sweetheart, and Ritsu's hesitation to fall in love again is a result of the pain from that breakup, as it turns out. Takano's promise to make Ritsu declare his love for him once more marks the beginning of their relationship now that the two had been reunited after a number of years apart. Three couples connected to the manga industry are followed in Sekaiichi Hatsukoi, and each of them experiences the beginnings of first love.
