PLOT
A calm and pleasant day is suddenly interrupted by the rapid and ruthless onslaught of extraterrestrial entities known as the Unknown on humans. All of Japan's children are cryogenically frozen until the war is over in order to keep them out of harm's way and save the future of the nation. After a number of years, humanity has established itself in a region of Japan that is now the battlefront. The children are roused from their sleep because they are no longer threatened with the annihilation of humanity. The children's development of personal, supernatural abilities known as Worlds when they were in cryogenesis is later found out to have occurred. In order to protect the strongholds from the oncoming assault, the six most powerful youngsters are assigned command of the recovered city. Ichiya Suzaku and Canaria Utara, childhood friends, are in charge of Tokyo, Kasumi and Asuha Chigusa, siblings, are in charge of Chiba, and Maihime Tenkawa and Hotaru Rindou are in charge of Kanagawa. As the Unknown's attacks become nearly routine, as well as the conflicting personalities of the city leaders and subheads, petty rivalries develop, resulting in ongoing conflicts between the three towns. The leaders of the three cities must learn how to cooperate or risk losing the last line of defense against the Unknown's abrupt increase in the pressure of their attacks.
