Otaku no Video, which is loosely based on the actual history of how Gainax came to be, covers every facet of the otaku culture. When Ken Kubo is lured into an otaku group, he is a young man leading an ordinary life. He gradually starts to resemble them until he makes the decision to give up his old life and take on the role of otaku's ruler, the otaking! Live-action interviews with real otaku covering every facet of the hard-core otaku lifestyle are interspersed.
