"Nil Admirari no Tenbin: Teito Genwaku Kitan" (also known as "The Scales of Nil Admirari: The Mysterious Story of Teito") is a fantasy, romance anime series based on the visual novel of the same name developed by Otomate. The anime aired in 2018. The story is set in the Taisho Era of Japan (1912-1926). It follows Tsugumi Kuze, the sole daughter of a noble family, who agrees to an arranged marriage to save her family from decline. However, her younger brother Hitaki gets caught up in an incident related to books called "Maremono" that affect the reader and can even drive them to commit suicide. Hitaki's attempted suicide prompts Tsugumi to question her life's purpose and duty. After encountering the Imperial Library Intelligence Asset Management Bureau, also known as "Fukurou," she learns more about these Maremono. The members of Fukurou work to protect people from the harmful influence of the Maremono, which carry the thoughts and emotions of their authors and can manipulate readers. Choosing to leave her family and work for Fukurou, Tsugumi becomes involved in investigating these mysterious books and finds herself interacting with several possible suitors who are part of Fukurou.
