PLOT
Koyomi Araragi discovers that his friend and rescuer, Tsubasa Hanekawa, has been acting strangely since escaping a vampire attack. On his way to a bookshop, he comes to meet paths with her, and when he notices she has a bandage covering her face, he immediately assumes the worst. Araragi wishes to assist her, but Hanekawa reassures him that he shouldn't worry about it because her injury was just sustained at home. But when a white cat without a tail is struck by a car and killed, the two bury the animal, and the real turmoil starts. When Araragi later visits his friend Meme Oshino and tells her about the day's happenings, she informs him that what they had truly buried was an apparition, one that was ideal for Hanekawa in her present condition. He is tasked with locating his companion to confirm her safety and finds her having attacked her parents while under the influence of the "Sawari Neko." Araragi must now assist Hanekawa in the same manner as she did before.
