PLOT
William Twining, age 17, is proud of both his ancestry and his commitment to contemporary science. The haughty noble is faced with the fact that he can no longer afford his tuition or the lifestyle he is used to when he discovers that his family has declared bankruptcy. William stumbles onto a secret room while searching desperately for riches in his manor and unintentionally calls forth the haughty demon Dantalion, the Grand Duke of Hell. It appears that Lucifer, who is in charge of Hell, has slept off. Tension among demonkind arises from the fact that only the human "Elector" has the authority to choose a temporary successor while he is absent. William doesn't accept the information that he is the untouchable ruler of the underworld and a direct descendant of King Solomon. The rebellious realist fails to realize that he is at the core of the continuing conflict between Heaven and Hell while completely rejecting magic and the supernatural.
