PLOT
A friendship develops between Hermes, a talking motorcycle, and Kino, a 15-year-old tourist. Together, despite not knowing what to anticipate, they travel across the globe and explore a variety of nations and locales. Life is, after all, a journey full of unknowables. They come across a variety of customs throughout their travels, from the tragic and fascinating to the morally dubious. They also come across a lot of people, some of whom live only for their jobs, others for the joy of others, and still others for the pursuit of their ambitions. As a result, there is always something to be learned from how individuals live their lives in whatever location they travel to. Since Kino and Hermes only play the part of observers in this tiny world, it is not their place to judge whether these asserted ideals are good or wrong. Despite how crazy these values may seem, they do not try to influence or modify the areas they go. They hold the opinion that everything is great the way it is and that "the world is not lovely; therefore, it is" as a result.
