PLOT
The son of legendary baseball player Gorou Shigeno, Daigo, is under pressure to live up to his father's reputation by developing into an all-star player. When he enters the fourth grade, he immediately joins the Mifune Dolphins, the little league baseball team his father played on, full of dreams. But things don't turn out as expected. Daigo's confidence is dented after just a few practices when his inborn baseball intuition and lack of talent become apparent. In less than a year, Johnny leaves the team because he is unable to handle the strain of trying to live up to his baseball prodigy father. A transfer student enrolls in Daigo's class two years later, when he is now in sixth grade. This pupil turns out to be Hikaru, the son of Toshiya Satou, a baseball player who had been Gorou's lifetime friend. When Daigo's mother gets a call from the Dolphins asking for players for a game, she makes him go. Daigo is shocked to see Hikaru there. Even more astonishing is the fact that Hikaru has never played baseball before despite his father being a baseball player! But unlike Daigo, Hikaru picks up the game right away and plays exceptionally well. Daigo and Hikaru are obviously diametrically opposed to one another. But this conflict will unavoidably introduce both of these young kids to the baseball world that their fathers love.
