PLOT
After a disastrous conflict with a race of giants known as the Zentradi, humanity has fled to the galactic center on a fleet of colonial ships known as the Macross Frontier. Life on Macross Frontier continues as usual as the threat from extraterrestrial life is left further and further behind. Alto Saotome, a trainee mecha pilot, and his friends are getting ready to do an accompanying routine for the well-known singer Sheryl Nome, who has traveled to Macross Frontier for a concert, in the year 2059. A biomechanical alien species called the Vajra suddenly appear during the performance, piercing the protective shields around the ship, and crash-land close to the music site, throwing the entire city into turmoil. A young girl called Ranka Lee is left behind as concertgoers leave and is subsequently targeted by the Vajra, but Alto intervenes just in time to save her. After these incidents, Alto is hired by the Strategic Military Services program to help fight the new alien danger because of his combat prowess.
