PLOT
The adjacent provinces of Shin-Ou and Tai-Kou have enjoyed peace in the area of Ryoza. Ryoza is ruled by Queen Shinou, and Grand Duke Taikou, her most able commander, protects the realm with his "Touda" army of potent war lizards. Despite a long-standing partnership between the two regions, rising tensions raise the possibility of a bloody civil war. Erin, a brilliant young woman, lives in Ake, a Tai-Kou town charged with building the Grand Duke's army. Erin spends her days observing the work of her mother Soyon, the village's chief Touda physician. But while the Grand Duke's strongest Touda is in Soyon's care, a terrible occurrence occurs, and the serenity Erin and her mother had been experiencing is destroyed when Soyon is harshly chastised. Erin ends up slipping into a river while trying to save her mother, and is then carried in the direction of Shin-Ou. Erin is forced to adapt to a new life with strangers because she is unable to go back home. She also has to look for the truth about both humans and creatures, as tensions between the two regions are continually rising.
