PLOT
Humanity has successfully colonized space in the 71st year of the True Era and has begun to live in free-standing galactic settlements. The Atlantic Rim United States (ARUS) and the Dorssia Military Pact Federation (Dorssia) are the two most powerful countries in the globe, and they regularly engage in conflict with one another both on Earth and in remote regions of space. A third faction, made up of Japan and the Islands of the Oceanian Republic (JIOR), lives quietly and economically successfully in this time of war while keeping a distance from its aggressive neighbors. Beginning in a JIOR colony in space, Kakumeiki Valvrave follows the calm existence of 17-year-old Haruto Tokishima as an unexpected Dorssian armada invades the idyllic colony. Their goal is to find the Valvraves, potent but rumored mechanical weapons thought to be concealed deep inside Sakimori Academy, home of Haruto. Haruto comes into one of the targeted Valvraves in the ensuing turmoil. As the lives of his comrades are in danger, Haruto joins the mecha and signs a deal to trade his humanity for its might. Haruto and the Valvrave launch a revolt to free the globe with the help of L-elf, a mysterious agent of the Dorssian organization and talented strategist.
