PLOT

The series is set in Great Japan, an alternate timeline where the Tokugawa shogunate is still in power and has maintained a degree of isolation from the outside world after being defeated by American forces in World War II. Additionally, American bases are located in southern Japan and Okinawa. The action of the novel takes place at Buou Academic Schoo, a samurai training school for children of military families that is situated at the foot of Mount Fuji. The strong student council that controls the academy and Yukimura Sanada and Matabei Goto of the Toyotomi side are engaged in a power battle, and Muneakira Yagyu, the proprietor of the Yagyu Dojo, and the enigmatic Jubei Yagyu are thrust into the fray. Female warriors descended from well-known historical individuals from Japan's Sengoku and early Edo periods appear in the series. The historical figure Charles d'Artagnan hails from the same era in European history.
