PLOT
Hozuki, a demon with ogre-like features and a former human, serves as King Enma's chief of staff and decides which type of hell the dead will be consigned to. Hozuki, who takes himself seriously, makes an effort to control and solve the peculiar issues that arise in the Japanese hell. Karauri and Nasubi are two of Hozuki's most prominent subordinates. Other characters in the underworld include Peach Maki, a well-known idol in Hell and Hozuki's acquaintance, Okoh (, Ok), the chief assistant of Mortal Hell, Mustard, the rabbit from Kachi-kachi Yama, who acts cute but snaps when someone says Tanuki/Raccon or acts as one, and Yoshitsune Minamoto, a commander in the Crow-Tengu Police. Hakutaku, a specialist in Chinese medicine who works at Shangri-La, is Hozuki's principal adversary. In order to help Hakutaku, Momotar, a real-life great samurai, is present. Shiro the dog, Kakisuke the monkey, and Rurio the pheasant, Momotaro's pets, all serve as tormentors in the animal cruelty division of hell and are regular characters in the series. More characters are introduced in the second season, including Hozuki's Twin Zashiki-warashi adoptive daughters, Miki an idol signed at Maki's idol agency, and the original Chief of Staff Izanami-no-Mikoto.
