Iriya no Sora, UFO no Natsu is a tale about a group of people who are either directly or indirectly involved in a covert conflict that has been going on since 1947. Naoyuki Asaba, a freshmen in high school, is the main character. On the final day of summer vacation, she enters the building after hours to swim covertly. But when he gets to the pool, he runs across the enigmatic Kana Iriya, who is there for the same reason. Naoyuki offers to teach her how to swim despite the fact that she is not a swimmer. A group of individuals appear during this private class in pursuit of Kana and take her back to the close-by air force base where she is staying. Naoyuki is shocked to see Kana in his class the following day as the new semester gets underway. They eventually grow to like one another, and Naoyuki even convinces her to join the school newspaper club. Naoyuki is unaware of the fact that Kana is a skilled fighter pilot fighting in a conflict between humans and aliens that has been ongoing since the Kenneth Arnold incident on June 24, 1947. Whether Kana Iriya can ultimately repel the invasion in the decisive battle will determine the fate of the entire world.
