PLOT
The main character of Inukami! is Keita Kawahira, a member of an Inukami-tamer clan who is seen negatively by the clan due to his attitude toward his duties and inability to connect with an Inukami. Inukami, which means "dog god" in Japanese, are good spirits with supernatural abilities. They are a particular kind of demonic creature that resembles a dog and can change into a human form. They work along with a companion from the illustrious Inukami-tamer clan to eradicate evil and spread righteousness. Keita initially has trouble connecting with an Inukami, but soon discovers a lovely Inukami named Yoko who decides to become his Inukami, making Keita quite happy. His happiness is short-lived, though, because he learns that she is an extremely troublesome and unruly Inukami. To aid with this issue, Yoko is initially depicted to be self-centered and only considers herself. Kaoru, the cousin of Keita, sent Nadeshiko, one of his Inukamis, to assist. Nadeshiko attracts Keita's attention. However, Yoko's jealous wrath is quickly tempered when Keita's grandmother, Inukami Hake, reassures her that Nadeshiko's stay was brief and that she was only meant to assist Yoko. Yoko and Keita become even closer after Nadeshiko departs, despite the fact that she finds Keita's flirtation with the other inukamis of Kaoru annoying when they go to visit.
