PLOT
Kabamaru was raised by his grandfather Saiz Igano after becoming orphaned at a young age. Saiz Igano also taught Kabamaru and another young orphan, Hayate Kirino (, Kirino Hayate), the ninja skills. When Kabamaru's grandfather passes away, he is in his teenage years. He meets Ran Ookubo, an elderly woman, at his burial. Ran's first love, Saiz, had requested in a letter that she care for his grandson after his passing. Kabamaru returns with Ran to Tokyo, where he is to live with her and attend the Kin'gyoku (Golden Rules) School, whose principal is Ran. When Kabamaru gets there, she meets Mai Ookubo, Ran's granddaughter, who has been living with her since since her parents passed away. While Mai enjoys Kabamaru's company, she considers his obnoxious demeanor and insatiable desire to be offensive. Because of the animosity between the affluent and powerful families of Shizune Mejiro, a Kin'gyoku student council member, and Shuu Maejima, the chairman of the gyoku student council, the two schools have been fierce competitors for nearly fifty years. Kabamaru unwittingly becomes a pawn in the student council members' many schemes.
