Eight of the ten potential idols from The Idolmaster are also disguised as students in Idolmaster: Xenoglossia, which reimagines them as fighter pilots of mecha. Immortal Defender of Legatee (IDOL) is the name of the giant robots, and Idolmasters are the people that control them. Pilots for the IDOL must be female and selected by the IDOL itself. In an incident known as Lost Artemis, the Moon was obliterated 107 years before the narrative starts. About one-fourth of Earth's population perished as a result of the countless shards that fell on the planet as a result of this disaster. The Kompeito or Confeito names refer to the surviving pieces of the Moon that circle the Earth. When a piece lands on Earth, it is referred to as a Drop. The names Mint Drop and Lemon Drop, respectively, will be given to the Drop if it is large and poses a moderate hazard to Earth. Initiating research to create the five IDOL cores, humans discovered a unique silicon on Earth, likely from dropped Drops. Named after Lunar Maria, the IDOLs.
