PLOT
The premier football division in Japan has seen East Tokyo United, or ETU, struggle for a while. They have sacrificed everything to keep from being demoted. Even worse, the team's supporters are beginning to turn on them. The rather quirky Tatsumi Takeshi has been engaged as a new coach by ETU in an effort to boost their performance. Tatsumi, who was formerly thought to be a fantastic football player, left the squad years prior but has since shown himself as the manager of one of the lower level amateur teams in England. It won't be simple; East Tokyo United will be competing against teams with better players and larger finances. Tatsumi, however, is a pro at giant killing. The home field of ETU in this manga was designed after Hitachi Kashiwa Soccer Stadium, and the team appears to have drawn inspiration from Tokyo Verdy, who experienced a similar rise to prominence in the J. League before falling to ruin.
