PLOT
Numerous native spirits and ghosts in Japan have been compelled to leave their homes due to overdevelopment and population growth. A new profession, the Ghost Sweepers, was established as a result of the issues the homeless spirits produced (GS). They are private exorcists available for hire and only work for the highest bidder in order to live in the brutal business world. The best of them is allegedly the Mikami GS Company, run by Reiko Mikami, 28, and her two assistants, Tadao Yokoshima, 17, and Okinu, a ghost. The manga is set up scenario by scenario, with numerous scenarios fusing traditional Japanese culture with contemporary reality and occasionally alluding to Western influences. Longer story arcs that introduce new characters and advance the development of current ones occur in between these plot points. Although the series' major plot centers on Reiko's conflict with her arch-enemy Astaroth, it is primarily character-driven and works to steadily grow its cast of characters, especially the main protagonists.
