PLOT
"Gegege no Kitarou (2007)" is the fifth anime adaptation of the classic Japanese manga series "Gegege no Kitarou," created by Shigeru Mizuki. The series aired from 2007 to 2009. The story revolves around Kitarou, the last surviving member of the Ghost Tribe. Kitarou is a yōkai (a term for supernatural beings in Japanese folklore) who has a strong sense of justice. He lives in the Gegege Forest with his friends and father, Medama-Oyaji (a reincarnated form of his father as a walking, talking eyeball). Kitarou and his companions work to maintain peace and harmony between the human world and the yōkai world. They often find themselves in conflict with malevolent yōkai causing troubles to humans or other peaceful yōkai.
