PLOT
After the Invertia impact event, which destroyed the majority of the planet's cities and gave humans the ability to acquire superpowers, megacorporations known as the Integrated Enterprise Foundations came to power. As a result, Earth's economy is now in a state of rapid decline. Six academies are home to Genestella, also known as Asterisk, who compete in Festa tournaments. Seidoukan Institution, the fifth-ranked academy in the city, is seeing a major decline in battle performance, and Claudia Enfield, the academy's current student council president, is committed to finding a solution. The top fighter at the academy is Kirin Toudou, but Claudia and Lieseltanian princess Julis-Alexia von Riessfeld are not far behind. Ayato Amagiri is also looking into the disappearance of his sister Haruka, a former Seidoukan student. Ayato is forced to fight Julis on his first day at the academy when he returns her handkerchief and finds her to be only half-dressed. Ayato is enrolled in Seidoukan after Claudia annuls their duel. He aims to become Julis' protector and close friend after saving her from a scheme to ruin the Phoenix Festa. Ayato eventually defeats Kirin and is crowned the new academy top student. Ayato and Julis continue to take part in different Festas and battle threats outside of the academy after they help Seidoukan resolve his performance crisis by attending the Phoenix Festa with Ayato.
