The protagonist of the tale is a young man by the name of Kappei Sakamoto, a high school student with exceptional athletic talent who joins the Seirin High School basketball team and swiftly rises to the position of one of the best players. As a basketball player, Kappei has an unusual disadvantage because of his short stature—he isn't even one meter tall. His weakness is female undergarments; he has a particular fondness for white panties, which makes him even more eager to join the basketball team when he learns that Coach Natsu, the team's female coach, wears white panties (although his inventive attempts to sneak a peek at said panties usually result in a physical beatdown from the hot-tempered coach). Kappei eventually discovers that his athletic ability goes beyond basketball, and he auditions for every sport the school has to offer, succeeding in each one. In the first episode, Kappei falls in love with Akane Aki, a nice, attractive girl who is also highly athletic (she eventually joins the school's ping-pong team) and agrees to work as Seirin's basketball team's assistant coach. To Kappei's delight, Akane is not only attractive but also sporting white underwear, so he decides to pursue her. After his parents, who are rarely present, go for the United States, Kappei finally moves in with Akane and her family. Seiichiro, Akane's dog, has often fantasized about marrying his mistress and, resenting Kappei, strives to destroy their relationship by pulling different pranks. This makes Seiichiro an unconventional adversary for Akane's affections. Seiichiro is also able to speak, but only Kappei is able to comprehend him.
