Shrouded conversations among the female students of Shinyo Academy revolve on a mysterious supernatural being. This being is Boogiepop, a Shinigami who is suspected of killing victims just as their beauty is peaking before it fades. Few are aware of his true identity: a guardian who, during times of dormancy, presents as Touka Miyashita, a high school student, in order to combat "the enemies of the world." Boogiepop has now been alert due to a series of suspicious disappearances that the school has assumed to be runaways. But a dangerous beast is hiding somewhere in the academy, waiting for the right opportunity to strike.
