Elementary school kid Capeta Taira is compelled to grow more independent after losing his mother at a young age in order to stop his father worrying about him. His father works long hours at a paving company and is frequently busy. He struggles to make ends meet. Capeta, despite how tough he appears to his father, is really simply a lonely child who has a difficult upbringing. He has to deal with the bully Nobu Andou in addition to his regular housework, which makes him feel worse despite the support of his classmate Monami Suzuki. Capeta's father once witnesses a group of young go-kart racers competing at high speeds and is inspired by the event. He then makes the decision to gather the available scrapped components and starts creating a present for his son. While everything is going on, Capeta and Monami break into his place of business because they think his father is up to something. They are shocked to see a go-kart made of discarded components that has Capeta's name on it. The kart is mostly finished and functioning, despite the fact that it lacks an engine and appears old. Capeta feels compelled to test out this new equipment despite the fact that it is raining heavily. An almost-dangerous mishap turns into an exciting fixation as he races the kart downward on a wet road. As Capeta enters the world of racing, his heart's engine is sparked by a new passion, and he is no longer dissatisfied with life.
