PLOT
Shirayuki, whose name translates to "snow white," is a cheery, red-haired young woman who tirelessly works as an apothecary at her herbal business in Tanbarun. When Prince Raji, the foolish prince of Tanbarun, notices her, her life is abruptly changed. Raji then tries to force her to become his concubine. Shirayuki, who is unwilling to give up her freedom, cuts her long red hair, runs away into the forest, and Zen Wistalia, the second prince of a nearby kingdom, along with his two aides, find her and save her from Raji. Shirayuki sets her sights on becoming the court herbalist in Zen's home nation of Clarines in the hopes that one day she would be able to pay back the trio what she owes them. In Akagami no Shirayuki-hime, Zen strives to live up to his status as a prince while Shirayuki travels to the royal palace of Clarines in search of a new life. Shirayuki and Zen gradually come to understand the value of supporting one another as they pursue their individual goals as devoted friendships and deadly enemies are created.
