PLOT
Two souls roam alone and alone in their various universes, leading quite different lives. Ren, a nine-year-old, is rejected by what's left of his family because the last person to show him affection was killed. Ren runs away into Shibuya's perplexing streets and lanes without having parents or a true family to turn to, and she has nowhere to go. Ren encounters the menacing Kumatetsu while navigating the narrow alleyways, and she directs him to the Shibuten beast world. The young man is Kumatetsu's chance to stand for election as the Lord of the Realm's successor after he retires. Despite being practically unbeatable in battle, Kumatetsu lacks followers to mentor and no way to establish his suitability to succeed the Lord due to his cold demeanor. Despite the fact that they have different objectives, the two resolve to support one another in achieving them. Ren, who is now known as Kyuuta, hunts for the house he was never given, while Kumatetsu looks for acceptance. As the years go by, it becomes clear that the two are more helpful to one another than they first realized. Perhaps they, a boy and a beast, have always had less in common than either of them ever recognized.
