PLOT
Japanese figure skater Yuri Katsuki, 23, puts his career on pause after suffering a shattering loss in the Grand Prix Final and other competition setbacks. After spending five years overseas, he returns to his birthplace of Hasetsu in Kyushu. At an ice rink (Ice Castle Hasetsu), Yuri runs into his childhood friend Yuko and flawlessly imitates an expert skating routine done by his idol, Russian figure skating champion Victor Nikiforov. When covertly filmed video of Yuri's performance is posted online, Victor is intrigued and decides to visit Kyushu with the goal of coaching Yuri and reviving his figure skating career. It was then discovered that Victor had previously met Yuri at the dinner where the latter had become inebriated and requested Victor's services as his coach.
