PLOT
A young man named Neku Sakuraba finds himself in possession of two black pins that give him the ability to sense the thoughts of everyone around him one day in the busy city of Shibuya. But he can also see the "Noise," dangerous entities that have the power to "erase" individuals from existence thanks to these pins. Neku receives a message about a mission that will nonetheless obliterate him should he fail after realizing that he is stuck inside the walls of the city. Neku encounters Shiki Misaki while attempting to repel a Noise attack, and she urges him to enter into a partnership deal with her in order to battle the monsters. Shiki says that Neku and she have changed from "Players" to "Players" in the "Reaper's Game," a seven-day event with several missions. As Neku and Shiki struggle to survive each day, they start to meet other Players and Reapers, fight more powerful Noise, and uncover the mysteries surrounding the game.
