PLOT
Most people are unaware that a strange competition is performed to select the new king of the Heavenly World. In this competition, 100 heavenly beings known as the "God Candidates" must choose one middle school kid to receive their powers from among the other children. Then, as representatives of their God Candidates, the selected ones will engage in combat. The winner of this competition will receive the "Blank Talent," which gives them the freedom to select any one special talent they wish, and the God Candidate they represent will be elevated to the title of "God" and made the ruler of the Heavenly World. Kousuke Ueki, a middle school student who can transform trash into trees thanks to his homeroom teacher Kobayashi, is competing in this major competition. Ueki sets off on a quest to follow his own sense of justice after observing those close to him abusing their powers for personal gain, in spite of the worries of his classmate Ai Mori. But as he meets skilled power users like Seiichirou Sano, Rinko Jerrard, Robert Haydn, and Hideyoshi Soya, he begins to suspect that his objective may be more challenging than it first appears.
