PLOT
The vampire Vanitas became terrified and lonesome after being mocked by other members of his species for being born during a blue moon. He allegedly wrote the "Book of Vanitas," a cursed grimoire, with the intention of using it one day to exact revenge on all vampires of the crimson moon. Noé Archiviste is looking for the legendary Book of Vanitas in 19th-century Paris. He is spared from a vampire attack while traveling on an airship by an eccentric doctor named Vanitas, who also happens to be carrying the book he is looking for. Ironically, the self-described vampire expert is really a human who received the book and his name from his master, the fabled Vanitas. When the bizarre Charlatan's Parade case arises, the doctor's skill in getting vampires to remember their real names will come in handy.
