PLOT
A long-running struggle between people who live in the Crimson Realm, a parallel dimension to the human world, is described in Shakugan no Shana. Crimson Denizens, who can control the Power of Existence, a fundamental power found in every living thing that serves as the "fuel" for existence, inhabit the Crimson Realm. Lords of the Crimson Realm are residents whose might stands out among their contemporaries, while even more powerful Lords are regarded as Gods. Humans' Power of Existence is collected by locals who don't care about maintaining the harmony between the Crimson Realm and the human world for the benefit of themselves. Flame Hazes, humans with contracts with a Crimson Lord, are tasked with preserving the harmony between the two worlds by eliminating any Denizens causing it to be upset. Powers of Unrestraint, commonly referred to as Unrestricted Spells or Unrestricted Methods, are potent magic spells that Denizens and Flame Haze deploy in battle. One such spell is the Seal, which makes a space where the Crimson Realm and the human world collide and all kinds of causalities, including time, are halted for common living things.
