PLOT
The "Heian Chapter" is set in the midst of the Heian period, when the inhabitants of Kyoto, the imperial capital, are in great pain and pin their last hopes on finding the five magatama, which stand for the five elements (Metal, Wood, Water, Fire and Earth). According to legend, when the magatama are assembled, their circle of affinity will protect the city from harm, and whoever sets the final stone will rule as the emperor. There are three Magatamas distributed around Japan. The three missing Magatamas must be found, and the Emperor assigns Minamoto no Raik of the Minamoto clan the job of doing so in reliance on the predictions of Abe no Seimei. Raik, on the other hand, is afflicted by an epidemic and hardly able to walk. Hikaru, his younger sister, steps in covertly in his place.
