PLOT
Throughout My Bride Is a Mermaid, Nagasumi Michishio, a young teenage boy, plays a significant role. Nagasumi is saved from drowning by Sun Seto, a mermaid, one day while on vacation at the Seto Inland Sea. However, according to mermaid law, either the mermaid whose identity was discovered or the human who witnessed the mermaid must be put to death. Sun's family, which is the leader of a mermaid Yakuza organization, reluctantly determines that the two are to be married in an effort to save both Nagasumi and Sun's lives. Gzabur, Sun's father, is furious at his daughter's impromptu marriage. Nagasumi struggles to adjust to his new married life because of Gzabur's relentless attempts on his life and the absurd antics of a number of adversaries.
