PLOT
Lute resides in Hakum Village, where selected kids train to become Riders, along with his companions Cheval, Lilia, and Navirou. When amicable creatures called Monsties emerge from eggs, riders develop a link with them and use them as mounts for both combat and travel. Hakum Village is isolated from the outer world and keeps its monster riding tradition a secret to everyone with the exception of a select few privileged individuals because it is a taboo skill in a culture full of monster hunters. The Dark Blight, a former menace that infected the adjacent woodland and caused more ferocious monster attacks, reappears when Lute goes on excursions with his pals and gains more experience riding monsters. The blighted monsters must now be stopped without completely destroying them, and a new generation of riders must figure out how to do it.
