PLOT
Mobile Fighter G Gundam is set in a different "Future Century" timeframe than previous Gundam series, which are set in the "Universal Century." In this era, most people have left the destroyed Earth and are now residing in space colonies. Just outside the atmosphere of the planet are colonies that correspond to the nations of Earth. The colonies decide to organize a "Gundam Fight" competition every four years rather than engage in wars for control of politics and society. Each nation sends a representative to Earth who controls a highly developed, humanoid mobile fighter known as a Gundam. The nation represented by the victor gains the right to control all of space for that time. The Gundams combat against one another in one-on-one battles under a rigid set of rules until only one fighter remains. The "Mobile Trace System," a gesture detection and feedback technology that allows the Gundam to mirror the pilot's own body movements, fighting prowess, and weapon-wielding talents, is used to directly control each Gundam by the user within the cockpit. G Gundam follows Neo Japanese Domon Kasshu, a Shining Gundam warrior and owner of the coveted "King of Hearts" martial arts crest, as the 13th Gundam Fight in the year 60 of the Future Century begins. In addition to competing in the tournament, Domon's goal is to find his elder brother Kyoji, who is believed to have stolen the experimental Devil Gundam from Neo Japan's government, killing their mother and putting their father (Dr. Raizo Kasshu) in custody and a cryogenic condition in the process.
