PLOT
The main characters in Lucky Star's plot are four girls who attend a Japanese high school. The city of Kasukabe in Saitama Prefecture served as the main inspiration for the setting. Konata Izumi, the main character, is a slothful young woman who continuously avoids doing her homework and spends much of her free time watching anime, playing video games, and reading manga. She has demonstrated to be extremely brilliant and athletic despite her laziness. Konata Izumi, Kagami Hiiragi, Tsukasa Hiiragi, and Miyuki Takara, the four main characters, were in their first year of high school when the serialization started. They transition to their second and third years as the plot develops. The other high school ladies that are visible in the opening are introduced only halfway through the anime, which begins with them beginning their second year. The plot typically makes multiple allusions to well-known manga, anime, and tokusatsu works from the past and the present.
