PLOT
Four high school girls in an unidentified region of Japan join the private, all-girls Sakuragaoka High School's light music club in an effort to keep it from disbanding. They are the only club members, though. Yui Hirasawa initially has any musical training and is unable to read music, yet she gradually develops into a superb guitarist. After that, Yui, Mio Akiyama on bass, Ritsu Tainaka on drums, and Tsumugi Kotobuki on keyboard spend their school days rehearsing, playing, and hanging out together. Sawako Yamanaka, a music instructor, is in charge of the club. During their senior year of high school, she also takes over as their homeroom teacher. The club welcomes sophomore guitarist Azusa Nakano in their second year. They become more organized and start to practice more after Azusa joins.
