PLOT

Due to their potency and, more importantly, their integrity, the invention of enormous war machines with spherical primary bodies known as Objects has rendered traditional warfare in all its forms, even tactical nuclear weapons, seemingly useless. Due to this military upheaval, all of the world's nations have split into four coalitions that are constantly at war with one another: the "Legitimacy Kingdom," which emphasizes tradition; the "Capitalist Corporation" (referred to as the "Capitalist Enterprise" in the anime); the "Information Alliance" (referred to as the "Intelligence Union" in the anime); and the "Faith Organization," which places a premium on religion. Modern warfare has essentially been limited to battles between Objects as a result of the belief that Objects can only be destroyed by other Objects, leading to shorter, safer, and cleaner wars. Qwenthur Barbotage and Havia Winchell, two normal soldiers from the Legitimate Kingdom, change all of this when, after being persuaded by Qwenthur, they independently destroy the "Water Strider" Object of the Faith Organization. Qwenthur and Havia are thrust into a new world of perilous adventures and risky suicide missions as a result of their discovery that objects made by humans can also be destroyed by humans and not just by other humans. Qwenthur also befriends Milinda Brantini, a member of the Legitimate Kingdom's Elite and the pilot of the Object "Baby Magnum," after saving her during the events that led to the destruction of the Object of the Faith Organization.
