PLOT
The Far Eastern Branch of AEGIS and the Invaders fought a war in Japan for 31 years. Up until the 1980s (when Hirohito's passing brought an end to the Shwa period), big corporations were thriving. The peak of progress and wealth has passed, crime has risen, the state of the environment has gotten worse, and the world has become more unstable. People's hopes for a bright future are evaporating as it becomes increasingly out of reach for the average person. The advent of a new kind of Invader coincides with the fall in the morals and values of the Japanese populace. The Invaders can now recruit regular people into their ranks because they are no longer an alien species.
