PLOT
Momiji Fujimiya thinks she was only a typical middle schooler. One day, a cat-eyed man with blue magatama beads embedded in his hands approaches her while she is walking to school and makes an effort to kill her. Momiji is surprised and horrified by this strange man's apparent determination to kill her; to add to her confusion, he calls her Kushinada. The sudden presence of two government representatives, one of whom shoots the man in the arm and causes him to run, saves Momiji. Momiji is curious as to why "Kushinada" was used to refer to her. She learns that the term "Kushinada" refers to an ancient princess whose blood possesses the ability to put the Aragami, or ancient monsters, to sleep for all time. Despite the fact that Momiji resides in a shrine in Izumo with her mother and grandmother, she rejects the notion that she could be such a person. However, she quickly changes her mind when vines grow from every crack and hole, aiming to catch her while whispering "Kushinada."
