PLOT
The protagonist of the novel is Rin Okumura, who was raised by exorcist Father Shiro Fujimoto along with his younger twin Yukio Okumura. One day, Rin discovers that he and Yukio are the children of the devil. When Rin sees Shiro sacrifice himself to save him, he draws the demon-slaying sword Kurikara, which controls his demonic abilities. As a result, Rin acquires a tail and demonic traits like fangs as well as the ability to burst into blue flames that can obliterate nearly anything they touch. To grow stronger and destroy Satan, Rin aspires to become an Exorcist like his guardian. He enrols at the esteemed True Cross Academy, a renowned exorcist boot camp that is actually the Japanese chapter of the True Cross Order, a global organization whose mission is is to save Assiah (the human world) from the Gehenna (demonic realm). Rin is shocked to learn that Yukio is one of his teachers and an experienced Exorcist. With his brother and other classmates who rapidly become his close friends, Rin sets out on his mission to become an exorcist.
