PLOT
Misaki Suzuhara is the main protagonist of the story. Despite her lack of height, she is a seventh-grader who recently relocated to Tokyo to live with her aunt Shouko Asami. After her arrival in the city outside of Tokyo Station, Misaki observes a conflict between two dolls on a large live-screen in the highly popular game Angelic Layer, in which players,referred to as Deus, purchase and create dolls known as Angels that can be controlled mentally when placed on a field known as the "layer." An eccentric character going by the name "Icchan", urges Misaki to buy and make her own angel. She gives the angel the name Hikaru in honor of Hikaru Shid from Clamp's Magic Knight Rayearth, a manga set in the universe of 'Angelic Layer', since she wants the angel to be "a tiny but strong and happy girl." Icchan helps Misaki and keeps an eye on her while she competes in tournaments despite her lack of gaming knowledge.
