PLOT
One night, Kazuki Muto leaps in to try to save what he believes to be a girl in danger from a monster but ends up getting his heart stabbed. Tokiko, the girl, is actually an alchemic warrior wearing a Valkerie Skirt Busou Renkin and on a quest to eradicate Homunculi. She inserts the Kakugane, which is the only other successful alchemical creation except the Homunculus, to replace Kazuki's heart. A Busou Renkin (in this example, a spear) is created by the Kakugane in response to his fighting spirit so that he might battle the Homunculus creatures who feed on humanity. To defend his comrades and his sister Mahiro against the Homunculi, Kazuki teams up with Tokiko.
