In a deserted area, a large structure rises from the ground. Elsewhere, a Mamodo named Ted and his partner Jido arrive in town, Ted searching for a job to pay for lodging. Ted wanders into a park, after failing to find a job, and finds a box that he plans to lodge in. When he looks inside it, however, he finds Zatch. They proceed to get into an argument and begin fighting. They then become friends. Jido finds Ted and Zatch and reprimands him for not searching for a job. Ted tells Jido they can stay at Zatch's place. Once there, He tells Jido he is not interested in fighting, and Jido replies he does not as well and that Ted is not aiming to become the Mamodo king. That night a Mamodo named Arth and his partner Ellie challenge Zatch and Kiyo to a battle, telling Zatch and Kiyo that they are the users of Bao and the menace of the Mamodo world that appeared in the human world. Arth overpowers Zatch and prepares to deliver a final attack but is interrupted by the appearance of Jido and Ted.
