Minoru Ohkuma, another classmate in Akebi's classroom, is an insect, amphibian, and reptile enthusiast. As she wanders around the woods near to her dorm, she finds Akebi and her sister, and admires her from afar. She remembers the day they met, when she witnessed Akebi's introduction to the class, and over the days, discovered how Akebi is equally comfortable around insects. One day, a Japanese rat snake finds itself in the school hallway, and everyone around it are scared to come close. Ohkuma arrives and picks up the snake without problem. Similarly unfazed by the snake, Akebi arrives and accompanies Ohkuma to the woods to set it free...
