PLOT
A lonely third-year college student runs with a man with an eggplant-shaped head who declares himself a god of matrimony one autumn evening at a mystery ramen shop near the Shimogamo Shrine. The student's encounter with this man makes him think back on his previous two years of college, during which he cruelly tried to break up couples on campus with his sole buddy Ozu, a ghoulish-looking man who seemed out to make his life as unpleasant as possible. The student makes an attempt to ask out the shy but kind-hearted underclassman Akashi, vowing to make the most of the rest of his college years, but fails to follow through, making him regret not living out his college years better. However, as soon as he has this thought, he is propelled across time and space to the start of his college years and granted a second opportunity to live. Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei is a surreal, artistic, and mind-bending novel that follows the misfortunes of a young man on his quest to meet people, fall in love, and live the idyllic campus life he has always imagined.
