PLOT
A laid-back young Japanese man named Naofumi Iwatani was invited into a parallel realm along with three other young Japanese men to serve as the world's Cardinal Heroes and battle Waves that travel between dimensions. When they were summoned, the heroes were each armed with unique legendary gear. Naofumi was given the Legendary Shield, the only piece of defensive gear, while the other heroes each received a sword, a spear, and a bow, all of which are attack-oriented weaponry. Naofumi's luck turns to the worse after his sole companion—who is later revealed to be the kingdom's princess—betrays him, steals all of his possessions, and abandons him without any support or supplies, in contrast to the other heroes who each receive full support from the kingdom and several powerful allies.
