The jaded ex-soldier Badr and his kind-hearted wife Esra give birth to a boy named Sinbad in the small, impoverished Tison Village of the Parthevia Empire. The "Child of Destiny" is here, a singularity announced to those at the height of magical power by the radiant surge his birth sends across the rukh. Sinbad enjoys a happy existence despite the economic instability and post-war effects that his nation is dealing with. However, when a stranger enters his serene environment, disaster soon befalls him. Years later, enigmatic structures referred to as "dungeons" have been built all across the globe. These dungeons caught the interest of adventurers and armies alike due to rumors that they contained immense power and treasures, yet to this day, no one has emerged from them. At the age of 14, Sinbad has developed into a charming and gifted young man. He yearns to start traveling outside of his hamlet as a result of the traumatic events of his youth and his father's advice. The encounter between Sinbad and mysterious traveler Yunan seems to be the result of fate. Yunan, moved by Sinbad's tale and ambitions, leads him to a prison he claims contains the "might of a king" Sinbad needs to accomplish his objectives. Magi: Sinbad no Bouken chronicles the epic story of Sinbad's early years as he travels the globe, developing his abilities and sway while assembling allies and power to become the High King of the Seven Seas.
