PLOT

"Gegege no Kitarou (1971)" is the second anime adaptation of the manga series "Gegege no Kitarou" by Shigeru Mizuki. This version aired from 1971 to 1972 and continued the adventures of the title character, Kitarou. In the series, Kitarou is a yōkai (a term for supernatural creatures in Japanese folklore), the last member of the Ghost Tribe. He lives in the Gegege Forest with his father, Medama-Oyaji, who has been reincarnated as a sentient eyeball. Kitarou and his friends are dedicated to maintaining harmony between the human world and the yōkai world. They often intervene when malevolent yōkai cause trouble for humans or other yōkai.
